A New Name. The Same Commitment to Excellence.

For decades, Mercer County ESC has proudly served students, educators, schools, and communities with exceptional educational services. While our name is changing to Grand Lake Regional ESC, our commitment to excellence remains exactly the same.

In this special podcast episode, Superintendent Shelly Vaughn and Treasurer Kurt Wendel share the story behind our new name, the vision that inspired the transition, and what it means for the districts and communities we proudly serve. They also explain how this change better reflects our regional partnerships while reaffirming that the high-quality services and trusted support our schools rely on will continue.

Unfortunately, we will be cancelling tonight’s pool party due to the weather. As much as we love making a splash — it looks like the clouds are ready to throw their own party! ☔️

Thank you for understanding, and we hope to see everyone at another fun event soon.

The staff at the ESC is so fortunate to have our office located right next to the lake. During the warmer months, we enjoy seeing seagulls, pelicans, geese, ducks, and—if we’re lucky—bald eagles!

June 20th is National Bald Eagle Day, so we thought we’d share a few fun facts:

🦅 Bald eagles can have wingspans of 7–8 feet.
🦅 Only adult bald eagles have the iconic white head and tail feathers—several of the eagles pictured are not quite adults yet.
🦅 Bald eagles mate for life and have eyesight estimated to be 4–5 times sharper than humans.

Even better—all of the photos shared were taken by our ESC staff!
